What's my view on transgenderism?

I believe that being transgender is not inherently harmful. Although, I would want anyone seeking to transition to have access to professional/medical guidance to ensure that it's being done for healthy reasons.

Even if done for healthy reasons, I don't believe a trans person should be treated as the gender they identify with in every situation when it can cause harm or be misleading. One obvious place of concern is transgender in sports. I oppose trans females (born male) competing in women's sports. The trans female would have a physical advantage because of biology (mainly testosterone).

It would be nice if the trans suffering from gender dysphoria could transition and be treated as their preferred gender in every way (esp. in sports), but we have to square equal rights with biology.
 
Why I'm not a Republican nor Democrat?

When I first got into politics, I started out as a Democrat. After President Obama's first term, I started leaning to being a Republican, but then I thought to myself that I disliked both parties. So now I'm an Independent. Here's why.

In short, both sides started becoming too partisan and polarizing. I had already known that politicians tend to be influenced by money and power, but it got to a point to where it pushed me away from both parties. Now being on the outside, I see the problems even more. When only Republicans run the government, they tend to go extreme. Some times, I think the only thing that keeps each party from going too extreme is opposition and so I try to use my vote to push for a mixed party government. Ideally, we need to break away from the two-party monopoly, and make it easy for any party and independents to run for any office.
