ill comment over there later, but i suggest that this understanding of Adam and Eve as literal people, in history, is not the best way to get the import of the passage

almost certainly not imo
when their value as spiritual symbols is understood, the literal story just pales into insignificance
its a Book about you, and Adam and Eve is you
and she gave some to Adam, who was there with her
(only a minute later he wasnt)
and the two will become one
etc
