There are many stories in the Old Testament that involve the total annihilation of civilizations, including women and children. One example is the Global Flood story. I've always thought that one potential justification for total annihilation stories is God's foreknowledge. This foreknowledge would involve God punishing people based on their future actions or acts that they would commit. I could imagine this being beneficial to take out some real bad characters like Hitler, but if he's taken out as a baby, then it doesn't seem so beneficial from our standpoint.

For debate:
1. Does God judge us based on foreknowledge? Any biblical examples?
2. Is it right to punish someone based on their future actions? What would be the pros and cons of punishing someone for a future crime?
