On Inauguration Day. Yeah, it's awkward, no question.

Now, the ADL defended Elon. This is the Jewish civil rights group, The Anti-Defamation Group.

Per the above article, the ADL wrote —

"This is a delicate moment. It's a new day and yet so many are on edge. Our politics are inflamed, and social media only adds to the anxiety."

And —

"It seems that Elon Musk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people are on edge."

Elon should have just stood pat. Instead, he posted these puns on Nazi names, like he was still in junior high for crying out loud!

Elon is "spectrum," just like I am. Meaning, the autism spectrum. And I guess I have more social skills than he does in this one! :D

Flashback: Almost exactly one year ago to the day, Musk visited the former Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz, Poland, as part of an apology tour for endorsing an antisemitic post on X.”

Maybe Elon had always been vaguely planning to visit the site of former concentration camp just as part of his education of a human being, and he used controversy as an opportunity, Okay, let's do it now.

As a sidenote, President Reagan was the 1st American president to visit the site of a former concentration camp. And it was as a result of a controversy. We Americans had agreed to a presidential visit and wreath-placing ceremony to the Bitburg German cemetery. And then some things were found out about the cemetery. Google "Reagan" and "Bitburg" and you can probably get tons of information.

Anyway, Elon should have stood pat.

I know it's hard for a rich guy and a popular guy to stay quiet, but he should have.

@Multicolored Lemur

I think he should not joke around with sensitive issues. Not only that but he's going to be a target for one of the political sides or another, so he's gotta understand that they are looking for anything close to controversial to pin him to.

I've read some reports from MSNBC or some other left-leaning site that Elon is socially weird. Could've been just a smear.

Anyways, I personally don't think he's anti-Jew or pro-Nazi and admire his curiosity and that he has the money to push the boundaries of tech.

Elon has also donated money to at least several hard-right European political parties. Now, businesses make political donations. I wish they wouldn't. But they do.

Then the question becomes, Is Elon out of step. Either the amount of money, or the radical-ness of the parties, or maybe some other feature.

Money is one of my pet peeves when it comes to elections. You can bet that all of these donators will want to cash in in the form of political favors if their guy or girl gets elected. I think that's a bigger problem with Elon more than who he's supporting, imo.

I mean I luv the capitalistic ideal of people being able to make or get as much money as they can, but not to the point that it massively influences an election. NOt sure if you can stay true to capitalism while also capping donations.

Open to any ideas!
