“By October << of 1992 >>, though six in 10 voters said they doubted Bill Clinton's trustworthiness, more saw him as the candidate who would best solve the country's economic problems and bring about needed change.”

The 1992 election was between sitting President George H. W. Bush, Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton, and businessman H. Ross Perot << pronounced “Perr - row” >>. It was an election all about the economy. Perot ran as an independent. And even with him dropping out and then re-entering the race, he still got 19% of the popular vote although zero electoral votes.

Maybe our 2024 election was a lot similar. Maybe a lot of voters view Trump as having more problems and downside, but also more upside. Maybe.
