Mary was the campaign manager for President Bush’s 1992 re-election campaign. James was Governor Bill Clinton’s campaign manager. They were a couple and they got married about a year after the election.

The other interesting thing, in fact downright fascinating thing, is that businessman Ross Perot got 19% of the popular vote. Even after dropping out and re-entering the race.

Opposites attract situation?

I would imagine things weren't as polarizing back then. But if those two are still married then I think they'd get a lot of sales writing another book on how they get along in the present-day environment.
