Lust:
- usually intense or unbridled sexual desire
- an intense longing : craving
Source: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/lust
I agree that a desire is more something than a mere thought. But the word “unbridled” seems to set up a self-fulfilling prophecy. Meaning that Merriam-Webster is kind of giving a max definition of lust.

PS congrats on your having a good relationship. :)
I think the act of lust somehow became confused with being "dirty" and certainly "usually intense or unbridled sexual desire" is in a category of its own...and even animals are not off limit re the extremes...and the results speak for themselves - more harm than good...

I think once lust was separated from love, the confusion occurred in the (collective) humanities. Expressions of love through lust were demonized and the natural human condition was twisted, fostering guilt et al..

We do not have a wise man before us who through reason saves us from the stone of double standards and telling us to "go and sin no more"
Hahaha…well you may not have a wise man to save you, but I sure do. His name is Jesus Christ. I would advise you meet Him for yourself.
HOW ABOUT THAT

I've travelled on these southern roads
They've taken me to many answers to my questions
Followed the white line in the daylight
Cats eyes shining bright in the darkness of my night

Strangers truly are the friends we haven't met
The souls we don't forget through life's long lessons
Often sheltered from the storm - warm my body soul and spirit
feeling alright.

I am not the flesh you see - I'm more that this I'm spirit
free - how about that
Life is my predestiny - Providence is God to me - how about that

Made love with many women - slept with more and spoke of my intentions
Sanctified love's joyful lust with ever movement
Every thrust and every loss of sexual tension

But closer we can come together as one entwined in body spirit mind
We could really kick arse then -
We could change this world
We could listen to the child that we are
The one that hides inside and let's the adults do the thinking
That ship is sinking - How about that

The future isn't crystal clear - we choose the now and here.
How about that.
Does Armageddon have to be...the answer is in you and me
How about that.

Phil.2:5-11
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

How ‘bout that

Since we are discussing thought crimes, I would like to delve a little deeper. Words, both spoken and written, are expressions of thoughts. Harsh words express harsh thoughts. Kind words reveal kind thoughts. If kind words expressing concern for others are spoken, are the thoughts behind the words considered criminal if the hearer does not like those words?

I'll raise you on that. Harsh behavior is an expression of harsh thoughts.

In my view, it's a big mistake to mitigate the inner life and only think the behavior alone is what counts. For instance, you can't have someone being full of hate (which is more than just mere thoughts) towards a group and not think that just because that person hasn't acted that there is no harm. I'm willing to bet that everyone that has committed a hate crime had hateful thoughts. Now it is possible to not act on it since they are people full of hateful thoughts that don't break the law, perhaps the thought of the consequences holds back the desire to commit wrongs. But I do think that hateful thoughts are a risk factor for hateful behavior.

If kind words expressing concern for others are spoken, are the thoughts behind the words considered criminal if the hearer does not like those words?
I don't think so. What would make it a sin or wrong is not how the hearer takes it, but rather it's what the conduct or words are.

That’s what I thought. And yet I often find myself in trouble for words others don’t like. Oh well, I count it all joy when others try to silence my words. That places me in good company.
