I’m giving advice as someone outside the religion.
But it seems to me, well, even an “ordinary” breakfast of waffles and syrup, or sugared cereal and milk, puts a lot of carbs in young bloodstreams. Plus, the youngsters are sitting in new clothes which are possibly tight and/or scratchy. The parents are expecting best behavior. It’s the makings of disaster.
Plus, I can see why the minister has his or her best audience and wants to give just a meaning-packed sermon. But deep breath, I really think this would be a time to keep it short and sweet. For example, if the service typically ends at 12:00 noon, maybe aim toward three minutes early.
Just some ideas! Thanks.
