“ . . . The Gospel according to John has long been appealing to Latter-day Saint readers because of its symbolism and high Christology, which are similar to that of the Book of Mormon and the revelations of Joseph Smith in the Doctrine and Covenants. . . .

.

.

“Like the other Gospels, the Gospel of John is formally anonymous, meaning that its text never directly identifies its author. . . .

.

.

“While the compositional history of the Gospel of John may be more complicated than many readers are aware, the text has as its foundation the testimony of an important eyewitness of Jesus and his ministry.”

I’m not so sure about this last part. Instead, I’d say, it’s written in a confident style.

John, the Beloved Disciple, is the author of the Gospel of John. Internal Biblical evidence as well as ancient church fathers attest to John being the author.

Ok, what is your source?
A lot of things I say are going to be what I best remember. And this might well be the case with you, too.

On this I remember it’s the YouTube publisher “Paulogia” who likes to describe himself as “a former Christian looking at the claims of Christians.” And yes, I’m going to be able to give video and time, chapter and verse as it were! :D But dear reader, please understand that I won’t always be able to do this.

Please see 4:53 into video

He’s saying Justin Martyr quoted different parts of the 4 gospels in his writings, but just said each time — “Memoirs of the Apostles.”

Okay, I’m sorry the guy was murdered for his beliefs, but it looks like the 4 gospels don’t have the definite authors modern Christians seem to think they do.

Your supporting evidence is a YouTuber named Paulogia. Not a recognized Bible scholar or theologian. A YouTuber. I'm sorry, I just cannot place much faith in a random YouTuber who claims to be a former Christian when such a being does not exist.

Here is a site with supporting evidence for John being the author. And this is an actual theological academic site: https://zondervanacademic.com/blog/who-wrote-the-gospel-of-john

I haven't done much reading on the authorship of John's gospel, but generally, I'd say that an apostle not being the author is not the end of the world. It doesn't have to mean that the writing is false or not reliable. I say this because any honest writer could've wrote it. What matters is if the details are are correct and corroborated by others. Corroboration is sometimes a luxury.
