Teachers being caught with students seems to be a big problem. In the 90s, I had only heard about one case, Mary Kay Letourneau, but now it's like every week it some new teacher is caught. What's going on?

Why is there an increase of female teachers having sex with students? Copy cats? Porn?

I don't know that there is an actual increase. I graduated in the early 80's and there were rumors of teachers and students back then. But, in those days there were no cell phones with cameras or social media. If it was happening, people did not talk about it. I could be dead wrong though. Adults today seem to have lost their moral compass and are willing to cross the line for fleshly lust.

I was also going to say the amount of sexual content that's consumed nowadays fuels sexual deviant behavior, as well. Fuels the sexual appetite overall. Of course, this doesn't affect everyone the same way since age is a factor and there are other factors as well.

Here's one survey done on sexual misconduct by teachers...

Despite the widespread prevalence of the problem, educator sexual misconduct remains understudied. One of the most comprehensive reviews of educator sexual misconduct occurred in 2004. At the behest of the United States Department of Education (USDOE), Charol Shakeshaft thoroughly reviewed the existing research literature available at the time detailing sexual misconduct in school settings. In her subsequent report to the USDOE,1 known colloquially as the “Shakeshaft Report,” she estimated the prevalence of educator sexual misconduct at the time to be 9.6 percent of the U.S. student body.

We're more open to it nowadays, willing to try more devious things, etc.
These rates of alleged sexual abuse represented a 53 percent increase for sexual assault and a 99 percent increase for rape/attempted rape from the last report in 2015-2016. However, as these statistics are based only upon official reports, they may greatly underestimate the scope of the problem, as Shakeshaft found that only 6 percent of students officially reported the educator sexual misconduct they experienced.

This is understudied and that's probably the scariest thing in this report. I also think the issue is not just the teachers but I suspect it's also the students, especially male students, that are more willing to try to get with a teacher.. then from there of course the teacher who doesn't know how to make boundaries falls for it.

I wish they would have also dived into the reasons why some teachers engage in these acts. I'm guessing there's like two or three common factors.

At 29:00 to 31:00 minute marks... a state prosecutor gives an explanation... he explains it has to do with social media and oversexualized culture...
