Recently dealt with a rule violation involving personal comments that were negative. Just wanted to elaborate on why I don't allow them on the forum.
In my view, debates should focus on views and not the person. So that's already one thing. Now of course, I get that at times, you may have to make a comment or ask a question that's about a member or someone else which is fine. But if it involves criticizing or is negative in any way, then in my experience that can down spiral into someone getting upset and being offended. Before you know it, the entire conversation starts turning personal, where both sides are commenting on each other.
I want to avoid that which is why criticism of a person (as opposed to their view) is not allowed on the forum. And of course, any insults or derogatory labels about a person are definitely not allowed.
