Following Charlie Kirk's death, many took to social media to condone or even celebrate his death. In response, conservative groups organized to dox and push for people to get fired for celebrating Kirk's death. Now I see reports all over the place of all types of people who are getting fired or expelled from schools. That includes teachers, doctors, students, and even news anchors.

Generally, I tend to be against cancel culture, but I'm on the fence on this one. I would rather these people be suspended and be talked to than to just be fired since the latter doesn't really fix anything. I've also found some cases where just a negative comment about Kirk was being lumped in as being celebrating or condoning his death and I think that goes too far. That would effectively silence any criticism of Kirk.

Here's some stories I've been keeping up with:

More examples of Republicans using cancel culture as a weapon to silence ANY (even those that don't celebrate nor condone Kirk's murder) Charlie Kirk criticism:

The House of Representatives voted along bipartisan lines on Wednesday to table a resolution to censure Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., over comments about Charlie Kirk.
And what did Rep. IIhan Omar say?
She specifically faced backlash over an interview with progressive news outlet Zeteo, where she criticized Kirk's past commentary and Republicans' reaction to the shooting. She later accused Republicans of taking her words out of context, and she called Kirk's death "mortifying."

She previously told Zeteo days after Kirk's assassination that he had "downplayed slavery and what Black people have gone through in this country by saying Juneteenth shouldn't exist."

"There are a lot of people who are out there talking about him just wanting to have a civil debate," the "Squad" member said. "There is nothing more effed up, you know, like, than to completely pretend that, you know, his words and actions have not been recorded and in existence for the last decade or so."
How does this statement of hers condone or celebrate Kirk's murder? Just seems, many Republicans are going extreme by trying to silence any criticism of Kirk.

The latest backlash is Jimmy Kemmel's show being cancelled based on comments he made about Charlie Kirk:

I get it. When some (presumably on the Democrat's side) started celebrating Charlie Kirk's murder or even making light of it, that was very insensitive. Some may even call it an evil act itself to celebrate an innocent man's murder. But let's not go extreme by trying to ban or silence ANY type of negative criticism.
