Featured Agnostic perspective on Israel and Palestine conflict: Who is at fault?

Israel has stayed and fought for too long. But then, they have to find almost all the tunnels, or at least almost all the big tunnels. And that might be the fundamental dilemma of the whole thing. * can’t Israel use satellite imaging that is sometimes used to find old archaeological sites now...

https://www.c-span.org/video/?534125-6/future-democracy Stephen is a law professor at the University of Texas. I don’t know how understandable and flowing a writer he is. But he was a lively talker at this event! His main point is that a lot of unsigned opinions from the Supreme Court have a...

Weirdly, doctors do this, too. They jump to a diagnosis, and they get impatient with the rest of what you have to say. And they’ve done at least some formal studies — The doctor’s diagnosis changes depending on the order in which patient symptoms are presented.

Amy Coney Barrett took the Oath of Office on Oct. 26, 2020. Featured In 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, verse 29, Paul speaks in favor of baptizing living persons on behalf of the dead.

Ethics always seems to come up. “How can you be a good person without believing in God?” I say, it’s not that hard. B+ ethics are fairly easy to get. I’m sure the Scout Law is not perfect. But it has the advantage of reminding us that we’re almost always trying to achieve multiple goals.

Featured In 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, verse 29, Paul speaks in favor of baptizing living persons on behalf of the dead.

This part in 1st Corinthians 15 is one of the real issues, since the Bible turns out to be quite a bit less than some Christians say it is. Similar is my post — Mark 4:12 Jesus speaks in parables “‘ . . lest they should turn and be forgiven.’” ? ? This is supposedly Jesus talking, and he also...

This is a sweet movie from the year 2000. And with some of the actors such as Marty and Angelo, it shows a light touch religion, in this case the Catholic faith. ============ And as another example, When new parents bring a child to church to be baptized or christened, it’s a big emotional...

We are an agnostic site after all. And please notice that I show respect by saying Paul is a heart-felt writer and almost a modern writer. And I’ll directly say the Bible is due the same respect as any ancient text. As Beowulf, or as Shakespeare.

Okay, I just want us to realize that we are taking religion way more seriously than most people. I think if we would ask many, possibly most, people they’d say the point of religion is to be a good person, and that religion has inspiring stories. But on the issue . . Alright, the disciples...

Featured In 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, verse 29, Paul speaks in favor of baptizing living persons on behalf of the dead.

As we both know, the Bible does not focus on consent. I’ve think we’ve had a thread on the part in the Old Testament, that if a man rapes a young woman, he’s required to marry her, and then everything is right and proper ? ! ? That might make sense if we only focus on the propert right of...

Featured In 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, verse 29, Paul speaks in favor of baptizing living persons on behalf of the dead.

I think the Bible is written by human beings. And taking a good long look at the “weird” parts is an excellent way to illustrate this. Just like Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth are written by a human being, most probably Will Shakespeare, but possibly Christopher Marlowe. I will say that Paul is...

Yes, I’d like to find a representative case from Justice Barrett, and a good case without being too picky about it.

I take a more conservative position. Even a person who was brought to America by their parents at age 5. Who grew up in American schools and for all intents and purposes is as American as you and I. Yes, they can get legal status such as resident alien or something of this sort. But— 1...

    — from the 2016 Christian movie “Miracles from Heaven” Why does God allow a child to get seriously sick? and when we strive too hard for a definite answer I think is when we run into trouble. Better just to embrace the mystery and say, I don’t know.

Featured In 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, verse 29, Paul speaks in favor of baptizing living persons on behalf of the dead.

Perhaps this is the crux of the matter. More than just condones it, I think the fact that Paul uses it as an example means that Paul approves of living persons being baptized on behalf of decease relative. Now, it may not be one of his points of major emphasis. But then again, the verses...
