Does Tower of Babel story show that God is against human progress?

Pride is not a minor offense. Pride caused Satan’s fall. Pride is one thing God absolutely hates in mankind. When God said nothing will be impossible for man, I honestly believe He was speaking about sinful things. Rebellion against God is simply disobeying Him. That’s what the people of Babel...

Does Tower of Babel story show that God is against human progress?

God is not against human progress. The story about the Tower of Babel is not about human progress but about humans reaching Heaven on their own. There is no way a person can get into Heaven without coming through Jesus Christ. These people wanted to reach Heaven without God and make a name for...

Why I Believe the Bible is Inspired by God

I agree with you in part. My mom has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer. Once we meet with the oncologist we’ll decide on what course of treatment (if any) we’ll take. Now I have total faith that God can heal her without medication. But I also believe God has given us the knowledge of...

Why I Believe the Bible is Inspired by God

It is. You place your trust in an airline pilot you’ve never met or heard of. You have no idea how many hours he/she has flown; you don’t know if he/she is going through depression or on drugs. Yet you strap yourself into your seat and expect to get to your destination. If a loved one finds...

Why I Believe the Bible is Inspired by God

I believe there is more than enough evidence for God. Creation, is a tremendous evidence for God. Life cannot come from non-life. The nation of Israel is another proof of God. When you look at the Hitites, Jebusites, Moabites, and all the other “ites” from the OT, they’re all gone. God promised...

Hahaha...you do realize the Scout Law is based on Biblical principles don't you? And so is the Scout Oath: On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally...

Just because you fail to see the importance of God's word does not make it less than it is. To understand spiritual things, a person must be spiritually attuned. Braille is mostly understood by people who are blind and have been trained to comprehend the bumps. I can see the bumps and even feel...

Why I Believe the Bible is Inspired by God

So let’s address the issue of Biblical inspiration. Dr. Voddie Bacham states this as to why he trusts the Bible: I choose to believe the Bible because it is a reliable collection of historical documents written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They report supernatural...

Ok since baptism for the dead is not the real issue here we could start a thread that actually addresses your concern about the Bible not being inspired by God.

So are you just using proxy baptism as a way to show the Bible was not divinely inspired? Is that the goal?

I find it odd that you reject the clear doctrines of the Bible but are so dogmatic about an obscure belief that has no support. I mean you are free to believe what you want, but I just find it curious.

He said it much earlier in this epistle: 1 Cor.1: 14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; 15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name. 16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. 17 For...

Featured In 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, verse 29, Paul speaks in favor of baptizing living persons on behalf of the dead.

Why would Paul approve of proxy baptism when he made it clear baptism does not save in the first place? He said he was glad he did not baptize many of his readers. He said Jesus did not appoint him to baptize but to preach the Gospel. You are free to believe what you choose, but the evidence...

Romans 2 addresses the moralist and his need for Christ. You see, it’s not the moralist that enters Heaven, but the righteous. And since there are none righteous we need Jesus’ righteousness imputed to us.

Again, if baptism can’t save the living, it can’t help the dead. If the dead weren’t saved when they died, they can never be saved.

Hahaha…it doesn’t matter if you buy it or not. That’s what the Bible teaches. And God is not prissy. He is holy.

Because sin is what separates people from God. It is sin that nailed Jesus to the cross. It is sin that sends people to Hell. That’s why it is so important to focus on sin.

Featured In 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, verse 29, Paul speaks in favor of baptizing living persons on behalf of the dead.

Well, it's a very generic answer. Ok, the word "baptize" comes from the Greek word "baptizo" and it means "to immerse". The NT indicates there are two types of baptisms. The most common is water baptism where a person is immersed in water. No where in scripture is anyone ever baptized by...

Featured In 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, verse 29, Paul speaks in favor of baptizing living persons on behalf of the dead.

We must understand what baptism is. Once baptism proper is understood, then we understand proxy baptism is worthless. Paul neither condemned it nor did he approve it. Therefore, even he considered it useless. So, again, I ask...what is your understanding of baptism?
