    You might be ahead of the curve. :) I’m familiar with Star Trek TOS, meaning “The Original Series” for people reading along, and NG or Next Gen. But I’m only familiar with some of the movie. The stories certainly do bring up a lot of life choices, that’s for sure!

    You get more respect if you’re a non-drinker as opposed to a light drinker. Weirdly, acquaintances and even “friends” will try to push you to drink more. They don’t seem to understand light-drinking as worthy choice, in response to a variety of life situations.

    I will consider the question. To me, it’s pretty hypothetical. This 1991 movie may give a foothold and handhold. It’s about a Non-Christian heaven, maybe? , and/or afterlife. However, it does give people what they’re familiar with.

    Yes, God should act to prevent a child being abused or neglected, to prevent a bridge from collapsing, etc, etc. We tie ourselves into knots trying to find excuses for “God.”

    No, I haven’t seen it, but I’ve heard about it. Without giving away the plot, is there a relationship that I’m going to be rooting for? That’s one way I think about movies these days.

    What didn’t work was — the idea of “disobedience to the Holy Spirit.” For example, if I get the idea that I need to witness to a fellow student in a particular way. Get the idea, duty-bound to carry out the idea. This was kind of crazy-making. And I’m glad I came out of this period.
