Featured Gospel of John, chapter 8 — Jesus says, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone

This could be a good topic on its own. I started another thread: https://theagnosticforum.com/threads/is-1-thessalonians-4-15-a-failed-prophecy.788/

    Is 1 Thessalonians 4:15 a failed prophecy?

In 1 Thessalonians 4:15, the apostle Paul says that Jesus would return while he was alive. The apostle died and Jesus did not return. 1 Thessalonians 4:15 "According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not...

Featured Any predictive prophecies in the Bible?

I'd have to look more into that. I think that it is very easy and even tempting to think that the writers of the Gospels could've wrote whatever they wanted - could've exaggerated, colored in the details, lied in some cases, all done to prop up their favorite religious figure/religion...

Featured Gospel of John, chapter 8 — Jesus says, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone

I would have thought that would be a problem for Christianity since a guy close to God is wrong in his belief. I'm guessing you don't see it as a problem. Which passage(s) stands out to you regarding Paul's belief?

Cat fight in Congress between Marjorie Taylor Greene and Ocasio Cortez/Jasmine Crockett

How does Congress get any work done when things are so toxic?

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott pardons a man that killed a Black Lives Matter protestor. Is this politics or justice?

Here's a story that reminds me of the Kyle Rittenhouse case from a few years ago. From an article in USA Today: What is Daniel Perry accused of? Regarding the pardon... It's that the part that I highlighted that gets me. It could show that Daniel Perry had intent to cause trouble. But...

Why are many Democrats voting against deporting violent illegal migrants?

This story came across my news feed from an article in Newsweek: My initial thoughts are that these Democrats probably are against immigrants committing violent crime, but they voted against this bill for some other reason. Or maybe this article is leaving out some facts?... Just my guesses...

Featured Any predictive prophecies in the Bible?

Let's explore this more. So we have two guys that God sends to the world and they are referred to as "witnesses" in Revelations chapter 11. I'm asking myself how would we know if these guys should be taken seriously as opposed to some fraudsters? Or maybe some will take them seriously but...

Featured Any predictive prophecies in the Bible?

We will have to wait until that happens then, but at least the prophecy is specific enough to be verifiable. Other times, prophecies are some times vague and can be interpreted many ways to make it fit whatever scenario. Here's some interesting information about who the two witnesses might be...

Any predictive prophecies in the Bible?

For Debate Does the Bible have any predictive prophecies? Was the nation of Israel being reestablished one of them?

Featured Any predictive prophecies in the Bible?

@Scooter In your view, when would you say that the events in Revelation chapter 11 will take place? In 10 years? 20? or much later?

    Random Agnostic Thoughts

It can be tough being an agnostic and deciding between religion and science. While I find it hard to believe the narrative of religion, that man is evil and the world will be saved by some figure, but I also don't pretend that the scientific narrative is correct either. Religion claim to have...

Featured Any predictive prophecies in the Bible?

@Scooter I like your point. Reading through that passage, I thought that these two witnesses were symbolic for something, but now I see it as being the other way around where it's the "two lampstands" and "two olive trees" that are symbolic for the two literal witnesses. Interestingly, in...

Anyone seen a tornado in person?

Here's driving through one... would make a good clip for Twister part 2: Tornado decides to visit a neighborhood in Nebraska: I've stayed in the Pacific Northwest and in Southern Florida. I've never seen a tornado in person but would love to get one on tape.

Featured Is the world becoming more evil?

The Bible actually offers a good solution for that. No one should have kids with someone unless both partners are married to each other or are in a serious commitment. Too many people are having kids with people that they have little to no commitment with.
