I have some Haitian American friends that I work with, and they know that I'm open to voting for Trump. I don't engage with them much at the job, but they still tend to try to sway me by bringing up all of Trump's negatives. I know in another instance that has been in the headlines is Trump hanging around Laura Loomer, who the media describes as a far-right activist. Laura Loomer posted what I see as a racist reference to Kamala's Indian heritage in saying that the "White House would smell like curry" or something along those lines. In light of these recent issues, I wouldn't be surprised if other independents also are asked why consider Trump.

I'll offer my response here but wanted to get the thoughts of other independents out there on why they would still vote for Trump knowing that he's a racist or that he sympathizes with them.

For the record, I am currently undecided and I don't fully commit to any party which is one reason why I am an independent.

I am still open to voting for Trump and the only reason is because of his policy. I acknowledge that he has a lot of negatives, especially to his character. Lately, he has come off like a conspiracy theorist, at times, and I think he's a bit traumatized from having lost the last election. But again, given all of these flaws, I remind myself that it doesn't mean that Kamala Harris is automatically a good candidate herself, and this seems to be what many who are against Trump are not open to considering. Trump being bad does not equal Kamala being good. Also, I'm not a one issue voter. While Trump may be bad at one area, like race relations, that doesn't mean all of his policy is bad. I'm kinda stuck voting for the one I can tolerate the most.

I am also open to voting for Kamala, as well.
