How would you grade former President Trump on the domestic issues (economy, social issues, etc.) and on foreign policy? What letter grade would you give him? You can go by his job as a president and up to now.

My grade will be based on this list (this list is tentative):
1. Character - honesty, respectable behavior, etc.
2. Economy - mostly be looking at factors that impact people and businesses, like jobs, cost of living, taxes, poverty
3. Social issues - views on the major issues and how close they relate to any facts
4. Immigration
5. Foreign policy - keeping us safe
6. Crime

Here are other interesting lists of issues that voters looking at:

It would be hard for me to give any politician an "A" due to the lack of trust in them, so my grading will be very tough here.

Trump gets a D from me on character.

He's very divisive (polarizing), inflammatory, tends to be immature when he insults his opponents. This all creates a bad work environment in government and to the public at large. This is a huge turn off for independents (although I mainly consider policy when choosing who to vote for). He has a bad reputation of exaggerating or just flat out lying. The only positives I find in his character is that he tends to be optimistic, he's a fighter, and projects strength. But his negatives far outweigh his positives here.

4. Immigration
Found a general outline of Trump's Republican policy on immigration. Read here: https://www.donaldjtrump.com/platform > click on "Platform" > scroll down and click on "Read more about the Trump Republican Platform" > scroll down to page 8.

The information below is just some of the details. Full details can be read here...RNCplatform.com

Republicans will restore every Border Policy of the Trump administration and halt all releases of Illegal Aliens into the
interior. We will complete the Border Wall, shift massive portions of Federal Law Enforcement to Immigration Enforcement,
and use advanced technology to monitor and secure the Border. We will use all resources needed to stop the Invasion—
including moving thousands of Troops currently stationed overseas to our own Southern Border. We will deploy the U.S.
Navy to impose a full Fentanyl Blockade on the waters of our Region—boarding and inspecting ships to look for fentanyl and
fentanyl precursors. Before we defend the Borders of Foreign Countries, we must first secure the Border of our Country.

Republicans will strengthen ICE, increase penalties for illegal entry and overstaying Visas, and reinstate “Remain in
Mexico” and other Policies that helped reduce Illegal Immigration by historic lows in President Trump’s first term. We will
also invoke the Alien Enemies Act to remove all known or suspected gang members, drug dealers, or cartel members from
the United States, ending the scourge of Illegal Alien gang violence once and for all.

Republicans will cut federal Funding to sanctuary jurisdictions that release dangerous Illegal Alien criminals onto our
streets, rather than handing them over to ICE. We will require local cooperation with Federal Immigration Enforcement.

Republicans will prioritize Merit-based immigration, ensuring those admitted to our Country contribute positively to our
Society and Economy, and never become a drain on Public Resources.

I agree with most of Trump's policies on immigration. I also like that we've already seen much of these policies in action during Trump's first presidential term and they did seem to work to keep migrant crossings from getting too high.

Mass deportations is not mentioned in source above but other sources do report that Trump has brought up doing mass deportations. These same sources say that he made promised to do that in 2016. Read CNN here and here. I'm skeptical that Trump would follow through with that because he didn't do it during his first term and he's given conflicting accounts about his policy per the CNN sources and there being no mention of it in his official policy. Perhaps, he's just talking and trying to play to his followers, which most of them probably want mass deportations?

I do hate the idea of a "merit-based" immigration as I think that would lead to discrimination, classism, among other types of unfair preferential treatment. I recall Trump commenting about wanting more migrants from Norway and not so much from "sh*t hole" countries, or something to that effect.

Overall, I would give Trump's plan on immigration a B.

3. Social issues - views on the major issues and how close they relate to any facts
This is a tough one because there are so many issues. One major one in light of the recent SCOTUS Roe vs. Wade decision is abortion. Trump's campaign website states the following as his platform:

4. Republicans Will Protect and Defend a Vote of the People, from within the States, on the Issue of LifeWe proudly stand for families and Life. We believe that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees that no person can be denied Life or Liberty without Due Process, and that the States are, therefore, free to pass Laws protecting those Rights. After 51 years, because of us, that power has been given to the States and to a vote of the People. We will oppose Late Term Abortion, while supporting mothers and policies that advance Prenatal Care, access to Birth Control, and IVF (fertility treatments).

So it's clear that Trump wants to make abortion a state issue, which means that some states will allow late term abortions while others might not. Now here's the problem. Trump and his running mate's personal view is that they accept allowing abortions in cases involving incest, rape, life of the mother. But Trump's view won't matter since the decision is in the hands of states which may pass laws that don't allow abortions w/out any of the exceptions. To make those exceptions the law of the land would require legislation on a federal level. So can we say that Trump and JD Vance are really okay with the exceptions? I'm skeptical that they are.

While I agree with Trump's platform in not allowing late term abortions, but I'm against his approach of having little to no federal intervention in abortion laws as that would lead to states having absolute bans on abortion.

Because of this, my grade for Trump on the abortion issue is a D.
