“Following graduation from Princeton in 2003, Hegseth joined Bear Stearns as an equity capital markets analyst and was also commissioned as an infantryofficer in the Minnesota National Guard.[14] In 2004 his unit was called to Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, under the operational control of the 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment 101st Airborne Division, where he served as an infantry platoon leader and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. Shortly after returning from Cuba, Hegseth volunteered to serve in Baghdadand Samarra, where he served first as an infantry platoon leader . . . ”

Then-Captain, Now-Major Pete Hegseth later served in Afghanistan. So, he served honorably in difficult circumstances. And he became a Fox News commentator.

But that’s quite a bit different than running a huge organization, doing the right kind of spot checking, etc, etc, etc.

Yeah, it seems he lacks the type of education and experience that you would think the Defense Secretary position would require. I was thinking that Trump would've picked someone like Mike Pompeo. Pompeo has military and government experience, and he also has a law degree.

This might of been one of those Trump picks where he's just rewarding loyalty.

There are some reports that Trump learned about Hegseth sexual assault allegations after he nominated him. If that's the case then this shows that Trump or his team did a poor job vetting Hegseth and are probably doing a poor job on other cabinet choices, as well.

Look, I'm all for picking outside to shake up the Washington establishment, but that doesn't mean you throw in just any outsider.
