I used to be a big Elon Musk fan because of all of the cool tech he has developed. But what I'v learned is that I should also see how he handles problems since that tends to show what people are really made of or what they are willing to do. And this is where I feel Elon has lost my respect.

Reportedly, one of Elon Musk's staffers made social media posts about being a racist and made racist comments against Indians. The staffer was going to resign but Elon reportedly wanted to keep the guy on and explained that the racist comments were a mistake from a young kid. But what I want to know is did this 25 year-old "kid" apologize for his comments? For Musk to take this staff member back without getting an apology just makes it seem as though Elon would be okay with anyone just as long as they are good with tech.

I should also say that not being a fan doesn't mean I hate Musk, but rather it just means I no longer look up to him. I'm not perfect myself so I wouldn't ever hate someone else for being imperfect. But I do hope he's willing to learn from how he's handled this matter.

Still looking into this story...

This is the story I'm referring to -- NBC:
Elon Musk said Friday that he will bring back a DOGE staff member who resigned after it was found that he had previously made racist remarks online.

"To err is human, to forgive divine," Musk said in a repost to X of a post from Vice President JD Vance that also supported the staffer's reinstatement.

The staff member, 25-year-old Marko Elez, resigned from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Thursday after The Wall Street Journal reported that he had made comments online that included supporting racism and eugenics. The White House confirmed to NBC News that Elez had resigned.
The Wall Street Journal said it reviewed archived posts from a deleted X account used by Elez in which he posted messages such as “Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool” and, “You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity.” “Normalize Indian hate,” he wrote in another post. NBC News has not seen or verified those posts.

Okay, I've looked. Haven't found any apology so I'm no longer an Elon Musk fan.

I'm going to say —

Elon Musk's team of young hot shots. And I think that's a pretty neutral description. I'm sure we could come up with significantly less neutral descriptions.

A lot of power. And they're doing more than just tech issues.

For example, Secretary of State Rubio has said that urgent and immediate USAID has waivers to start flowing again. But I think it's Elon's team which has access to the payment system.

Elon's actions in this case reminds me of the problems of the corporate world being profit-driven, only caring about the bottom line and not the people as much, etc.

Republicans tend to rail against government and their response is to privatize everything and let states or even corporations (as opposed to government) run things. In my view, both big business (corporatocracy?) and big government can become a problem.
