Hi Arlyn, welcome to our group. :D

I hope you find us a small but thoughtful group. I myself am an atheist / agnostic. For example, I was surprised at what I found when reading some chapters of the Bible as an open-minded adult.

Perhaps weirdly, I believe in objective ethics. Something close to “motive utilitarianism” is probably a B+ or better theory and about what I’m looking for. Or maybe …. just a C+ theory, and at the end of the day that’ll have to be good enough.

Have fun here! :)

Hello to the group. Previously a Christian pastor whose faith was dispelled ironically in a Christology study to increase it. An ethos of goodness replaced religiosity.
Welcome to the forum, Arlyn.

Former Christian here myself so I can kinda relate to how that transition went. How has agnosticism been treating you? :)

Thank you for the warm welcome. Only a cursory look at the group and forums so far.

As well, both atheist and agnostic here. Atheist regarding tribal gods of religions equaling creator and agnostic regarding a creator god.

I was raised by good people and simply accepted and followed their religious beliefs until the quest for self understanding challenged what was inherited, leaving me a free thinker now for forty years.

Ahh, we may share some thought regarding what utility course now and ahead. I've given greater weight to what proves value universally, such as a smile or goodness or humor or friendliness.

I do hope this is a fun place... we'll see if it is a fit. Again, thanks.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Happily a non believer now forty years. It is much better than trying to pound a square peg into a round hole, ie religion into a free thinker.

Admittedly the first twenty years were in the closet and coming out was overdue and welcomed.

It could use a few more people but it will be fun for expressing freethinking to its fullest! At least with me, I try to be agnostic to the bone, I don't view anything as being beyond question and challenge. Although, I usually don't go too far into left field towards the conspiracy stuff (unless there are good reasons to 🛸👽). I like being grounded with some evidence, at least.

Anyways, jump in any discussion topic as you please...
