Anyone here use an Interlinear translation of the Bible?

Anyone have an interlinear translation Bible? I've heard of them but never actually took the time to see how it is laid out and the benefits of such translations.

Here's one example:

I see multiple benefits here. One is the value of a lexicon since you know the associated Greek words and you can look up the word meaning. The other value is that you can see how the Greek word is used in context which gives you an idea of how the Bible was translated. For instance, translating one single Greek word into English might require multiple English words. So this gives you an idea of how translations play out.

Anyone know of any other good online interlinear translations? I'd like get one for both Old and New Testament.

Thank you for bringing this up. I understand that Bible translations range from “word for word” to “thought for thought.” This one’s on the far end of “word for word” translating. And that’s fine, even though some of the supposed “better” translations have elements of both methods.

For me, this is similar to diving in and trying briefly to understand the transition from Middle to Modern English.

I've read that the NIV leans the most when it comes to thought for thought translation. It makes for an easier read, but maybe it also allows more of the Translators bias to creep in. And probably a version like the NASB is more word for word, probably makes for duller reading but it's always good to have as an option. Nevermind the KJV which I admit I used to think it was the pureth translation of them all.

I own several lexicons in both Hebrew and Greek. I love doing word studies. It brings clarity to many hard to understand verses and phrases. My number one go-to is a program I bought for my computer. It's called Sword Searcher. There are many updates to the original. I'm on version 8, but there are several more.

Here's something fun you could try...Quote Matthew 18:11 from the NIV. Tell me what it says.
