Churchill Downs sees eighth horse death as Rio Moon euthanized at home of the Kentucky Derby

Rio Moon "suffered a catastrophic injury" and was euthanized, becoming the eighth horse to die at the iconic track in recent weeks.

Plus, the 8th horse above suffered a “catastrophic injury” and was euthanized.

Yes, it’s a spectacular event, and yes, it’s true that everything in life is risky, etc, etc. But at a certain point, maybe it is pushing the horses too far.

And most of us could probably agree that the event should be fun and not so hugely high stakes, but . . . That ain’t going to happen! If anything, sports are going to be more and more highly “monetarized.” 😜

That's sad...and too bad no one notices until these horses are dead.

On a lighter note, I think I saw an episode about dead horses on an old detective show. There was foulplay involved, but hopefully not the case in the story in the OP.
