The idea here is that instead of arguing over, for example, Trump vs. Harris, in which exactly zero progress is made, let’s talk about volunteer efforts we might make in which we could really sink our teeth into!
And there’d be similar examples for other countries.
We all long to live big lives!
Where we really get out power stroke going, where we help others, where we accept mistakes as mere texture, and so on, and so forth!
Now, volunteer work can be as disappointing as anything else. When my Dad retired, he was disappointed in both the American Red Cross and in his volunteer time with Meals on Wheels. He thought a big part of the job was to check up on the seniors, especially when they didn’t come to the door. The bureaucracy of the group seemed to think it was just about getting the meals out.
And the few times I’ve tried to look up the websites which give grades to charities, that’s been disappointing.
But we might be able to embrace all this as part of the challenge.
